Marcia Pennington Shannon is a founding principal of Shannon & Manch, LLP, and has nearly thirty years of experience in lawyer career and professional development. In addition to her expertise in career transitions for lawyers at all levels, she has extensive experience in career advising and performance and executive coaching, especially focused on those in leadership and management roles. Ms. Shannon specializes in career development and management strategies, with a particular emphasis on assisting clients in defining their personal and professional goals and applying creative strategies to achieve them. PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISEIn addition to overseeing the Career Management practice for Shannon & Manch, Marcia uses her expertise in coaching, career counseling, and group facilitation to help individuals and legal employers meet professional development goals, including enhancing leadership and performance, finding career satisfaction, and charting paths to career success. Marcia is a frequent speaker and author on topics related to lawyer development. Most recently, Ms. Shannon served as Managing Editor and co-author of THE Lawyer's Career Management Handbook: Your Bridge to a Satisfying Career (West Publishing, 2010) and contributing author to The Art and Science of Strategic Talent Management in Law Firms (West Publishing, 2010). BUSINESS EXPERIENCEPrior to becoming a principal in Shannon & Manch, Marcia was the sole principal in her private consulting practice and Senior Consultant to White Svikhart & Associates as well as to other organizations. Her prior academic administration experience includes positions as the Assistant Director of Georgetown University Law Center's Career Services Office and Director of Alumni Placement at the University of Cincinnati. As the Assistant Director of a top tier law school placement office, Ms. Shannon was responsible for developing employment opportunities for students, counseling students and alumni on career issues and job search preparation, directing special interest training and informational programs and presentations. She went on to build a successful private practice as a career advisor and consultant to legal employers, working with law firms, corporations, and the government. |
