Retention Strategy Planning  

 

  • Designed, analyzed, and reported on a firm-wide survey on matters relating to lawyer career development and workplace satisfaction. Provided consultation on strategic plan development based on the findings of the survey.

 

  • Conducted focus groups for a large, multi-office firm assessing the lawyer experience and gathering specific information on work coordination processes and support for diversity.
   
Professional Development  

 

  • Worked with the General Counsel and leadership team of a major company to assist building an effective team and guide them in identifying management and development strategies for their staff counsel.

 

  • Conducted a leadership development skills training seminar for new partners focused on the development of core supervision skills such as delegation, communication, providing feedback, building a team, and developing others.
 
  • Consulted with a firm on the development of a work assignment coordination process that would link practice-specific performance benchmarks and career objectives with assignment decisions.
Performance Appraisal  

 

  • Conducted upward reviews of senior lawyers, hosting a web-based survey on our client portal and interviewing junior lawyers, tabulating results, and delivering individual reviews with analyses and coaching points.

 

  • Assisted a firm in the development of a competency-based performance management system, creating developmental objectives, process framework, and performance benchmarks by level. Linked the competencies to the firm's training curriculum, evaluation process, and work assignment system.
Mentoring  

 

  • Consulted on the creation of a new mentoring program. Developed a program model and strategic implementation plan, and presented a series of training seminars on effective mentoring skills, providing senior and more junior participants with guidelines for developing a meaningful mentoring relationship.

 

  • Assisted in the development of an individualized career planning format and process for developing lawyers focused on competencies and level benchmarks.
Recruitment  

 

  • Conducted comprehensive interviewer skills training workshops for hiring committees, on-campus and in-office interviewers, and lateral candidate interviewers in firms and organizations throughout the country to prepare them for a competitive recruiting season.

 

  • Conducted a survey of candidates who had gone through a recruiting process to assess the perceived effectiveness of the hiring process. Provided a report of the findings and recommendations on effective recruiting strategies.
Diversity  

 

  • Conducted comprehensive skills training workshops for hiring committee, on-campus and in-office interviewers, and lateral candidate interviewers in a law firm on diversity competence in the interviewing process to prepare them to be better able to attract a diverse workforce.
Women's Leadership  

 

  • Developed and led a two-day leadership retreat for women associates and partners at a large firm, creating content, training in-firm facilitators, and presenting.

 

  • Helped conduct a needs assessment in advance of planning a comprehensive women's initiative.
Work-Life Balance  

 

  • Designed and delivered a program titled Recalibrating the Scale on the topic of achieving and maintaining work-life balance to a firm's associates.
